Unique attractions in the Kolobrzeg area

12.12.2019

Urban monuments, intriguing museums, charming ports and magnificent beaches - the municipality of Kolobrzeg attracts with its natural beauty and rich history. It is not just the famous City Hall which is noteworthy, but also the Lighthouse, the pier, the Concathedral Basilica or the Salt Marina. The latter, thanks to its extensive infrastructure and the city's unique natural features, hosts yachts from all over the world. What's more, close to the marina is the Morast Redoubt, a well-known to history buffs - an 18th-century defensive fort that has recently undergone revitalization.

Extensive green areas

On the one hand, historical and military monuments, and on the other, secluded parks or picturesque gardens where you can relax and enjoy the view of majestic nature. Stefan Zeromski Park is located in the heart of the Spa District. Actually, there are two connected parks - the seaside park, and the one by the Monument of Poland's Assumption to the Sea.

You should also take a walk to the scenic park named after A. Fredro, called Park on Wolf Hill. Today it houses an amphitheater. While visiting the city, we can take a look at March 18 Square (once called Imperial Square), where there is a historic monument and an illuminated fountain.

A little farther from the city center, in the village of Dobrzyca, are the remarkable Hortulus Spectabilis Gardens, open to the public since 2014. The entire complex is divided into thematic zones. Each offers a wonderful aesthetic and natural experience. At the heart of the Gardens is the world's largest hornbeam maze at 1 hectare. Inside the labyrinth is an observation tower that offers a beautiful panorama of the area. Gardens of Time and Space, of Magic, and of the Celtic Calendar - these are just some of the attractions here.

And the magnificent Eastern Ecopark, which stretches from Kolobrzeg-Podczel through Bagicz, towards the village of Sianożęty. The entire area of this remarkable park, which is a valuable ecological area, spreads over about 380 hectares. An ideal place for a walk amidst unspoiled nature or a bicycle tour (a scenic trail runs through the Ecopark).

An interesting park, of a completely different kind, is the Zieleniewo Amusement Park, located approx. 5 km south of Kolobrzeg. Crossing its gates, we will feel like we are in the Wild West. There is an Indian village, a western city, a funfair, a motor park and many more attractions for the whole family.

Monuments in Budzistowo and Kądzielno

Budzistowo is a special place on the map of popular attractions of the Kolobrzeg municipality. A beautiful (and well-maintained) bike path runs through the village. It is worthy to see the local monuments: the early medieval Church of St. John the Baptist (Central Pomerania's oldest brick-built religious building), built in the heart of ancient Kolobrzeg, the seat of one of the first two Polish bishops from the year 1000. The eclectic Hunting Palace, which dates back to the turn of the 20th century, or the Church of St. John the Baptist in Sarbia.

Several interesting monuments of sacred and secular architecture can also be found in Kądzielno - a village located less than 5 km east of the center of Kolobrzeg. Among them are: a palace-park and farm complex, as well as a two-story eclectic-style palace.
